Zachary del Soto has written two works of adult contemporary fiction that are both gritty and engaging. His characters are real, their situations believable and their struggles poignant. These are the novels he's proud of, the ones that win him awards and accolades. The ones with his picture on the back of the book and the ones he will happily sign if you send him your copy along with postage and a return address. The books he writes to pay the bills and support his family are another matter all together. They are trite, formulaic, written for a calculated audience and with a word count in mind. He pens them under an assumed name, cringes at the ridiculousness of the 'plots' and sometimes has his wife do dramatic readings of these bodice rippers for laughs.
